Annunciati i vincitori dei National Board of Review, i prestigiosi premi cinematografici assegnati da un’autorevole organizzazione newyorkese no- profit, la National Board of Review of Motion Picture (NBR).
Anche se i loro verdetti hanno un’influenza relativa sulla corsa agli Oscar, dato che su 90 edizioni solo 21 volte il vincitore per il Miglior film ha conquistato l’ambita statuetta nella medesima categoria (da Accadde una notte nel 1934 a Green Book nel 2019), gli NBR Awards restano comunque dei premi molto attesi perché redigono anche 4 short list sui miglior film dell’anno (Top films, Top 5 Foreign Language Films, Top 10 Independent Films, Top 5 Documentaries) che permettono di capire quali sono i potenziali competitors dell’Awards Season che culminerà con la cerimonia degli Oscar.
Di conseguenza anche se lo scorso anno solo 1 verdetto dei NBR Awards è stato confermato agli Oscar come il premio per la Miglior attrice assegnato a Michelle Yeoh per Everything Everywhere All at Once, 10 vincitori su 12 categorie corrispondenti hanno ottenuto successivamente la nomination agli Oscar.
