La National Board of Review of Motion Picture (NBR) ha proclamato i vincitori dei suoi prestigiosi premi annuali, i National Board of Review. Questa autorevole organizzazione newyorkese ha selezionato i migliori film dell’anno, riconoscendo l’eccellenza cinematografica a livello internazionale.
Fondata nel 1909, la NBR è una delle istituzioni più antiche e rispettate nel mondo del cinema. È composta da un gruppo di critici cinematografici, accademici, educatori e appassionati di cinema che si riuniscono ogni anno per selezionare i migliori film, registi, attori e altri professionisti del settore.
STATISTICHE AWARDS SEASON
Anche se negli ultimi 25 anni solo 4 volte il premio per il Miglior film assegnato dalla NBR ha conquistato anche l’Oscar nella categoria Best Picture: American Beauty (1999), No Country for Old Men (2007), The Millionaire (2008), Green Book (2018), in compenso 23 volte su 25 ha ottenuto la candidatura nella categoria Best Picture. Di conseguenza i loro verdetti restano comunque importanti per capire quali sono i potenziali competitors di quest’anno.
Nella passata edizione solo 1 verdetto decretato dai National è stato confermato agli Oscar (miglior attrice non protagonista: Da’Vine Joy Randolph per The Holdovers), anche se ben 10 vincitori su 12 categorie corrispondenti hanno ottenuto successivamente la candidatura agli Oscar. Quanto alle liste (TOP FILMS): 6 film su 10 sono stati confermati per il Best Picture (Barbie, The Holdovers, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things), 2 su 5 per il Best International Film (The Teachers’ Lounge, The Zone of Interest), 2 su 5 per il Best Documentary (20 Days in Mariupol, The Eternal Memory)
